Budapest parking fees 2026: parking will become significantly more expensive from July 1

From July 1, 2026, parking fees in Budapest will increase. Based on the decision of the General Assembly of Budapest, higher hourly rates will apply in all paid parking zones, so drivers will have to pay more than before for parking.

The change affects all paid parking areas in Budapest.

New parking fees in Budapest

The table below shows the current hourly rates and those valid from July 1, 2026.

The increase ranges from 33 to 50 percent depending on the zone, so drivers who park for longer periods are likely to feel the change in particular.

How much will an average parking session cost?

For a two-hour parking session, based on the new fees:

• In Zone A: 1,600 HUF
• In Zone B: 1,200 HUF
• In Zone C: 800 HUF
• In Zone D: 600 HUF

In downtown areas, where Zones A and B are typically located, the cost of running errands or attending a program lasting several hours will therefore be noticeably higher.

Further changes can also be expected

The capital previously announced several parking reform measures. One of the most significant of these is the gradual phasing out of parking meters, which we have already covered in a separate article.

In addition, further changes may come to Budapest’s parking system in the future, including a review of discounts for electric vehicles and the introduction of different pricing for certain vehicle categories.
