Budapest parking fees 2026: parking gets significantly more expensive from July 1

Budapest parking zones and hourly rates
Update (October 27, 2026): the new fees have been in effect since July 1, 2026, and from that same date, parking in Budapest can only be paid for digitally (by mobile phone or online). Cars with green license plates will pay the full fee from January 1, 2027, while the double fee for cars weighing more than 2 tonnes has been postponed until January 1, 2028; we wrote about this in a separate article.
Budapest parking fees increased on July 1, 2026. Based on a decision by the General Assembly of Budapest, higher hourly rates now apply in the vast majority of paid parking zones, meaning drivers have to pay more for parking than before.
The change affects most paid parking zones in Budapest, although different fees apply in some district zones (for example, in certain zones in District XII). You can find the exact fee for each zone on the Budapest parking page.
New parking fees in Budapest
The table below shows the hourly rates before July 1 and the rates currently in effect.

Depending on the zone, the increase ranges from 33% to 50%, so drivers who park for longer periods will feel the change most.
How much does an average parking session cost?
For a two-hour parking session, the new fees are:
- Zone A: 1,600 HUF
- Zone B: 1,200 HUF
- Zone C: 800 HUF
- Zone D: 600 HUF
In downtown areas, where Zones A and B are typically located, the cost of running errands or attending an event for several hours is now noticeably higher.
Further changes
