There will be no free parking in Budapest on working days between the two holidays this year.
This year, the holiday parking regulations in Budapest will change: according to the decision of the capital, there will be no free parking on working days between Christmas and New Year. Contrary to previous practice, on December 29, 30, and 31, the use of public parking spaces will again be subject to a fee.
The modification was primarily justified by feedback from residents. Many people in Budapest reported that during the holiday period, due to free parking, spaces remained occupied for days, making it more difficult for local residents to find available parking spots.
While previously parking was generally free in most city zones between the two holidays, in certain highlighted areas payment was already required. However, the new decision will uniformly affect the entire city on the mentioned days.
The capital also indicated that BKK will issue a separate notice before the holidays to ensure that all drivers are informed in time about the changed parking regulations.
