Off-season parking regulations take effect in Siófok from September 16
In Siófok, the off-season parking regulations will take effect from September 16. In the city center’s Zone I and II paid parking areas marked with signs, parking tickets must be purchased between September 16 and May 14, 2027, from Monday to Friday, between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Different rules apply on weekends, public holidays, and certain specially designated periods.
Parking fees remain in place on weekdays in the city center
Off-season rates will apply in Zone I and II. The rule applies to the city center’s signposted, paid parking areas. The mobile parking zone codes for these parking areas are 8601 and 8602. If you pay by mobile parking, you can check the code for the relevant area based on the signs and the stickers placed on the parking meters. The zone code can also be found in the parking zone finder.
The payment period runs from Monday to Friday, between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. On Saturdays and Sundays, the paid parking areas can be used free of charge, but this does not apply to workdays moved to Saturday under the law. Drivers therefore also need to take into account during weekend parking whether the given Saturday counts as a moved workday.
- Parking fees do not need to be paid on public holidays, namely on 10/23 and 11/01.
- Parking is free on moved rest days, as well as on City Day, 11/27.
- Fees also do not need to be paid during the period from 12/24/2026 to 01/02/2027.
Balaton shore parking lots become free of charge
Parking lots located north of the railway, typically along the Balaton shore, are subject to a different off-season rule. The parking areas with mobile parking zone codes 8603 and 8604 can be used free of charge every day from September 16 to May 14. In these areas, parking without payment is therefore possible not only on weekends but also on weekdays during the specified period.
Because of the two different regulations, it is important for drivers to distinguish the city center’s paid zones with codes 8601 and 8602 from the parking lots north of the railway with codes 8603 and 8604. In the city center, parking tickets must be purchased during the specified weekday period, while the northern, typically Balaton shore areas will be free of charge every day.
Vehicles with green license plates are also subject to fees
In Siófok, parking for vehicles with green license plates has also been subject to a fee since March 1, 2022. In the city center’s fee-paying areas, this also affects those arriving with such vehicles during the off-season parking regulations. When payment is required at a given place and time, a green license plate alone does not entitle you to free parking.
In practical terms, the change means that from September 16, whether a parking ticket is needed must be decided based on the location, day, and time of parking. The fee zone is indicated by the posted signs, and the mobile parking zone code is also shown on the stickers of the parking meters. According to the city’s information, further details can be read on these surfaces.
The off-season regulation lasts until May 14, 2027. In the city center, payment for the specified period remains in effect on weekdays, but free parking applies on the listed weekends and special days. The marked parking areas north of the railway can be used free of charge every day throughout the entire period.
