License plates must be entered at parking meters in downtown Kecskemét

Parking meter payments have changed in downtown Kecskemét: at the parking ticket machines within the Kiskörút, drivers must now enter their license plate number to pay the parking fee. The Kecskemét Municipal Police announced the change on its social media page on Tuesday. If you pay for parking at a meter in this area, you must enter your vehicle’s license plate number as part of the payment process. The Municipal Police specifically asks drivers to make sure the number is entered correctly.

What has changed at the downtown meters?

The announcement applies to the parking ticket machines within the Kiskörút. At these machines, you must also enter your license plate number to pay the parking fee. The news does not concern all parking meters in Kecskemét in general, but specifically the machines located in the named part of downtown. The change therefore affects one step in the payment process at the meter: entering the vehicle’s license plate number.

According to the Kecskemét Municipal Police, stickers placed on the meters provide guidance for anyone unsure what to do. This means instructions are available right at the machine where you need to enter your license plate number. The source does not provide details about the text on the stickers or the other steps involved in using the meter, so it is worth reading the instructions on the machine before paying.

The change affects how parking fees are paid at the specified meters. The Municipal Police announcement does not treat entering the license plate number as a separate task unrelated to parking: it must be done during payment. If you use one of these meters within the Kiskörút, be prepared to enter your license plate number to pay, and follow the instructions displayed on the machine.

This information is relevant to drivers who park within the Kiskörút and pay the parking fee at a parking ticket machine. The source does not mention any changes affecting other payment methods. It also does not announce a new fee, a payment period, or any additional area, so no conclusions about these can be drawn from the announcement concerning the downtown meters.

What should you watch out for when paying?

The Municipal Police specifically urged drivers to enter their license plate number accurately. In practice, this means not only entering the number but also checking the information during the payment process. The announcement does not explain what happens if the number is entered incorrectly, so the report does not establish any consequences.

If it is unclear how to enter your license plate number while using the meter, the Municipal Police directs drivers to the stickers placed on the machines. You can check them on site before starting the payment process.
