Another section of Szabadság utca in Balatonboglár will become paid parking from November 2
Balatonboglár parking zones and hourly rates
From November 2, parking for passenger cars will also be subject to a fee on another designated section of Szabadság utca in Balatonboglár. The hourly rate is HUF 500.
When and how do you need to pay?
Parking fees apply every day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., including weekends and public holidays. For mobile parking, use zone code 8630, which can also be checked in the zone finder. The parking meter accepts cash and bank cards.
Balatonboglári Városüzemeltetési Nonprofit Kft. is offering a grace period from November 2 to 16, during which no parking surcharges will be imposed.
Who is affected by the change?
Permanent residents of Balatonboglár can also park for free in the new section if they register their vehicle’s license plate in the municipal registry. However, commuters from other towns, including teachers, may be affected by the parking fee.
Mayor Miklós Mészáros mentioned two possible solutions for teachers who do not live locally: institutions can designate parking spaces for staff on their own premises, or employers can purchase discounted annual permits for them. The permit allows unlimited parking within a designated area.
According to the mayor, the number of paid parking spaces has been gradually increasing for years to regulate traffic and boost municipal revenue. The city primarily seeks contributions from visitors through parking fees to maintain the beaches and public spaces.
Parking arrangements are also changing
On the new fee-paying section, stopping will be prohibited on the side of the street without designated parking spaces. Paid parking spaces have been marked on the other side. According to the mayor, the changes are also intended to make traffic flow more orderly.
The parking meter used here was moved from beside the market. Parking at the market became free this summer: as part of a funding application connected with the redevelopment of Vörösmarty tér, the municipality committed to operating the parking spaces created with the support funds free of charge for several years.
