3 special sights of Budapest (and parking information)

Budapest, the capital of Hungary, is a real gem in Central Europe with its rich history and impressive architecture. Although the city's best-known sights, such as the Parliament, the Chain Bridge, Hősök tere, the Buda Castle District and St. Stephen's Basilica, attract tourists, Budapest still offers many unique locations that also deserve attention. In this article, we present three lesser-known, but all the more impressive landmarks that reflect Budapest's diversity and cultural richness.

1. Rudas Spa

Located on the banks of the Danube, the Rudas Spa is one of the oldest and most authentic Turkish baths in Budapest, dating back to the 16th century. The special feature of the building is that it was built during the Turkish subjugation and has preserved the characteristics of the spa culture of that time to this day. With its seven domed pools and thermal waters of various temperatures, the spa offers visitors a real time travel experience.

The unique attraction of the Rudas Fürdő is the rooftop panoramic pool, which offers a breathtaking view of the city and the Danube. The spa also offers modern wellness services, so in addition to the traditional Turkish spa experience, modern pampering is also part of the program.

2. Fisherman's bastion

Although the Buda Castle Quarter is located in the immediate vicinity of the Fisherman's Bastion, the building itself is a separate attraction that is worth mentioning separately. The name of the Fisherman's Bastion comes from the medieval fishermen's guild, which ensured the protection of this section of the castle wall. The building was built in neo-Romanesque style, based on the designs of Frigyes Schulek, and was completed in 1905.

The Fisherman's Bastion offers one of the most beautiful panoramas of Budapest with a view of the Danube, including the Parliament, the Chain Bridge and the Pest side. The building's special features include towers and wonderful terraces that offer a unique way to explore the city. In addition to the architectural details and the historical background, the café of the Fisherman's Bastion is also a popular place where visitors can enjoy the view over a coffee.

3. Palace of Arts (Müpa Budapest)

The Palace of Arts, commonly known as Müpa, is one of the most important centers of Budapest's cultural life. In addition to the modern and innovative architectural style of the building opened in 2005, one of the world's best acoustic concert halls, the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall, is also located here. Müpa not only hosts musical events, but also theater performances, dance shows and exhibitions are regularly held here.

The building's specialty is the digital organ, which is one of the largest such instruments in the world. Müpa's modern architecture and diverse program offer are equally attractive to culture lovers and those interested in modern architectural works.
